CHRM2

On Friday, 25 April 2025, the Centre for Human Rights, Multiculturalism and Migration (CHRM2) held a joint discussion with the Directorate of Belief in God Almighty and Indigenous Peoples, Ministry of Culture (KMA) regarding the preparation for the upcoming Festival Pangan Lokal in Soe District, East Nusa Tenggara. The discussion was attended by the KMA Directorate Sjamsul Hadi, S.H., M.M., CHRM2 Director Al Khanif, Dien Vidia Rosa as researcher, and Bahjah Ayu Bakta as project officer. Festival Pangan Lokal aims to encourage Indigenous communities to fulfil their food needs and strengthen their regional food security. Through this collaboration, KMA hopes that Indigenous peoples can further optimise their land for food cultivation, including home yards.

CHRM2 and KMA have collaborated since 2020, beginning with the drafting of a presidential regulation related to Indigenous peoples with traditional beliefs, which is still being pursued for ratification. Through this discussion, CHRM2 and KMA hope that there will be more programmes that can be developed together towards fulfilling the rights of Indigenous peoples in Indonesia.
