

The Centre for Human Rights, Multiculturalism, and Migration (CHRM2) organizes a discussion on child marriage issues in Jember on 15 August 2025. Peace Leader as the initiator of this event said that the discussion is unique as the child marriage issues is discussed from religious perspectives. Representatives from some religious organisations such as Catholic, Protestant, Islam, and religious office of marriage registrar (KUA) attended the discussion and share their experiences about child marriages. Some civil society organisations (CSOs) such as Tanoker Ledokombo and Fatayat, a young Muslim Women of Nadhlatul Ulama organization explained their advocacies and challenges in eliminating practices of child marriages in the rural Jember. The representative from Child and Women Agency of Jember District, Joko emphasizes that some sub districts in Jember still have high number of child marriage practices.
The Centre, represented by Dina Tsalist Wildana and Al Khanif asserts that there must be a program of inter-disciplinary sharing about child marriage for high school students in Jember. The Centre is very committed to support the similar event because the involvement of inter-religious organisations in eliminating child marriage is unique. Religion is a fundamental element of society so that people must use religious perspectives to tackle social issues such as child marriage.
