On 18 and 19 March 2018, The Centre for Human Rights, Multiculturalism and Migration (CHRM2) University of Jember hosted a two days symposium which took place at Senate Room, 2nd floor University of Jember. There were two prominence institutions attended the program, both are National Commission on Human Rights (KOMNAS HAM) and Indonesian Consortium for Human Rights Lecturers (SEPAHAM) Indonesia which focus on the issue of human rights in the country.
There are two main agendas of the event. The first is signatory of agreement between KOMNAS HAM and University of Jember. The three year agreement between the two institutions are focused on research, community engagement and teaching programs on human rights. The agreement is significant for CHRM2 because the centre will act as an in charged institution from University of Jember to run the programs while Division of Advocacy and Research of KOMNAS HAM will act as coordinator of the programs.
The second agenda is annual assembly of SEPAHAM Indonesia. All committees of SEPAHAM Indonesia agreed to draft basic rule of SEPAHAM as one requirement to register legalisation of the institution. The second agenda is preparing for open biding of human rights conference which will take place in 2019.
