CHRM2 has released the latest edited book on human rights titled, “Hak Asasi Manusia: Dialektika Universalisme vs Relativisme di Indonesia.” The book is edited by Al Khanif, Herlambang P. Wiratraman, and Manunggal Kusuma Wardaya, they are widely known as human rights experts and respectively the Chairman and the former Chairmen of the Indonesian Consortium of Human Rights Lecturers (SEPAHAM Indonesia).

The book is preceded by the argument that globalization of human rights has undergone in some decades, influencing the debate on universalism and relativism. The regime of international human rights and supporters of universal human rights have struggled to implement the human rights norms in national levels, transcending the boundaries of local norms rooted from religion, culture, and national interest.

Indeed, the globalization of human rights gets around with some barriers, though, in fact, there is an increasing number of countries to ratify international human rights instruments. Hitherto, there is a number of countries believe when citizens will claim their rights and freedoms, they should conform to the norms of the respective society, as the results of the national consensus. The supporters of relative human rights believe the implementation of human rights norms will not be effectively applied in various countries if the international regime imposes the principle of universalism as what is reiterated in the number of international instruments.

The contributors of the book are Indonesian human rights lecturers and lawyers. They are Al Khanif, Atip Latipul Hayat, Ayuningtyas Saptarini, Bestha Inatsan Ashila, Bisariyadi, Dia Al Uyun, Dian Agung Wicaksono, Dian Ferricha, Dina Tsalist Wildana, Dio Ashar Wicaksana, Fajri Matahati Muhammadin, Habib Shulton, Haidar Adam, Hilda, Kukuh Budi Mulya, Majda El Muhtaj, Mirza Satria Buana, Muja’hidah, Prischa Listiningrum, Rachminawati, Rizqy Bachtiar, Rudy Wijaya, Saifudin, and Siti Khoiriah.
