CHRM2

The Centre for Human Rights, Multiculturalism, and Migration (CHRM2) signed a three-year joint partnership with the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) on 21 April 2022. The signatory of the partnership is a continuation of the commitment which had been agreed by the University of Jember and Komnas HAM in 2021. The signatory is also followed by a discussion on the future of human rights court in Indonesia.

Amiruddin, a commissioner of Komnas HAM and Al Khanif, the Director of CHRM2 signed the document witnessed by Rector, vice rector on academic affairs and cooperation affairs of the University of Jember. Both parties have agreed to build stronger commitment and collaboration on human rights education, collaborative research, and advocacy.

The Centre has been working with Komnas HAM on many issues since 2017. Komnas appointed Al Khanif as a chair of research team on Qanun Jiyanah, Aceh in 2021, invited him as a speaker in the Annual Human Rights Summit in 2019, and assigned him in some events. On the other hand, Komnas was also involved in the human rights conference in 208 and 2021 organized by the Centre.

Thus, the signatory of the joint agreement shows both parties have similar vision and mission to advance human rights protection in Indonesia
