One of my favorite aspects of my experience at CHRM was the people. I enjoyed getting to work alongside and learn from faculty, students, and other collaborators. The office prioritized opportunities for trips to explore the area and bond with other staff, facilitating cross-cultural conversations. We even got to host a Thanksgiving dinner for our community in Jember, and share a piece of American traditions from home.

Being a fellow at CHRM2 was a great experience that combined meaningful work with cultural immersion. The center organized numerous opportunities for us to engage with Indonesian culture and learn about the country’s history, people, and language, making the fellowship both educational and memorable. Some of my favorite experiences included hiking Mount Ijen and visiting the region’s beautiful beaches. In addition to these cultural experiences, CHRM2 is deeply engaged in important human rights work, and I had the opportunity to contribute by assisting with content editing for their publications and journals. This fellowship is an excellent opportunity for anyone seeking to contribute to impactful work while fully immersing themselves in a new cultural environment.
