The Centre hosted a Fulbright Specialist, Professor Grace Cheng, a lecturer and professor on political science from San Diego State University for two weeks starting on 17 September to 1 October 2022. During her stay, Professor Grace gave two guest lectures at International Relations Department and the Faculty of Law of the University of Jember. Besides, she also participated in the workshop on academic writing organized by the Research and Community Services Agency (LP2M) University of Jember and closely engaged with the Centre’s research team during the field research at Tengger Indigenous Tribes. In the last two days before her departure back to the USA, Professor Grace gave a sharing experience on research collaboration with the Centre in the Workshop on Collaborative Research Centre on 29 September until 1 October at Kokoon Hotel Banyuwangi. The workshop also invited Samsul Hadi, a Director of the Indigenous and Local Belief Service (KMA) and Dr. Herry Yogaswara, a chair of Language, Archeology, and Literature.

The main objective of the workshop is to prepare a research and collaboration proposal that will be submitted by the Centre. The proposal project will be submitted to BRIN under the scheme of a multiyear scheme funding. Professor Grace is committed to participate in the collaboration and hope that the project proposal is selected by BRIN. She is also committed to find other project schemes so that both the Centre and her institution will have sustainable collaboration in the future.
