Concerned about the increasing number of sexual harassment and violence cases in the campus environment, the Center for Human Rights, Multiculturalism and Migration (CHRM2) with The Legal Aid Service Bureau (BPBH) Faculty of Law, University of Jember, Research Group (KeRis) for the Protection of Women and Children Faculty of Law University of Jember, the Indonesian Consortium for Human Rights Lecturer (SEPAHAM), LBH Jenthera, and the Student Alliance Concerning on Elimination of Sexual Violence worked together to hold a Workshop with the theme “Realizing UNEJ as a Modern, Safe and Gender-Friendly Campus”. The workshop was held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 08.30-15.00, on the 3rd floor of the Rectorate Building.

This activity invited University Representatives and Faculty leaders within the University of Jember, Students, BEM and Higher Education Representatives in Jember including IAIN, IKIP PGRI, UNMUH, UIJ, STIA Pembangunan, STIE Mandala, AKBID Soebandi, AKBID Jember, and Jember State Polytechnic.

This workshop activity aims to encourage the University of Jember to realize UNEJ as a modern, safe and gender-friendly campus. This can be established by creating a mechanism to provide facilities for prevention and treatment (mentoring victims and prosecuting perpetrators) of cases of sexual harassment on campus.

The workshop is expected to produce recommendations regarding the mechanism for monitoring and reviewing Campus regulations in order to develop UNEJ as a modern, safe and gender-friendly campus by creating facilities for prevention and treatment (mentoring victims and prosecutors) of cases of sexual violence on campus.

In addition, this workshop is also expected to be able to build public awareness regarding the prevention and handling of cases of sexual violence.
