CHRM2

From November 19-21st, 2019, the National Commission on Human Rights (Komisi Nasional HAM) is hosting a public Human Rights Festival at the Central Park Jember, East Java, Indonesia.

On the opening day of the three-day festival, CHRM2 team members represented the Centre and conducted community outreach while tabling at one of the event’s many booths for CSOs and businesses. CHRM2 was represented by their international team of American and Indonesian fellows and research assistants. Over the course of the day, the CHRM2 team engaged with festival attendees about the Centre’s work, including journal and book publications. The bi-annually published Journal of Southeast Asian Human Rights was on sale for a discounted price, along with other journals and books published by the Centre.

Through this event, CHRM2 built new connections with the Jember community and increased public awareness about the Centre’s human rights and cross-cultural engagement work. In doing so, the team honored the guiding vision of the festival: to bring human rights considerations and current efforts into the everyday conversations of Jember citizens.
